D2: Bastion exotic fusion rifle

Although the Corridors of Time puzzle doors closed early, on January 28th, this gun hunt is still available. According to Phil Hornshaw of Gamespot, "... players were initially iffy about Bastion, [but] the rifle seems pretty effective ... thanks to its ability to circumvent enemy shields."

Following your successful final run through the Corridors of Time, and your visit to the tomb in the Timelost Vault, a Tower visit with Saint-14 was in order. Now with the Bastion gun quest in hand, you're off to the Tangled Shore to engage in a series of quest steps.

However, you will have had to complete Saint's storyline prior to the Bastion quest. If you haven't yet completed "Recovering the Past" and "An Impossible Task," you will need to tidy those up.

Those done, now you're off to the Tangled Shore to engage in the "A False Refraction" quest. Begin by dispatching five (5) Fallen servitors and captains to gain Fallen intelligence, after which you will visit with the Spider for the next step, called "Memento."

The Spider will send you after a Fallen captain by the name of Aksiniks in the "Backroom Brawl" quest step, and whom you will find in the lost sector right next to the Spider's safe house. Head into The Empty Tank and clear the area as usual. With the boss fight done, return to the Spider for the next quest step.

Very pleased that you've ruffled the feathers of his enemies, the Spider provides you with the next quest piece, "A Strong Arm." You just knew there would be some grinding involved, right? Here's the  short line-up for this quest step:

• Complete 10 of Spider's bounties
• Kill 30 challenging enemies (i.e. yellow-bars)
• Complete 8 public events on the Tangled Shore

Those chores shouldn't take too much time to polish off. That said, for the next quest step, "Rude Awakening," head off to the Four-Horn Gulch area, and drop into the Trapper's Cave lost sector. Mop up enemies as usual ... the war hounds, and the handful of Cabal Legionaries and Psions that appear near the waterfall area of the cave. After mopping up, jump down to the lower area, then turn and face the waterfall.

You will see a gassy, blue Ether apparition just to the right of the waterfall. Go ahead and interact with the Ether to acquire the next quest step, "Altered Chief."

Interacting with the Ether will trigger a Scorn ambush!

Ensure you're loaded for bear prior to interacting with the Ether.

Apparently the Scorn Chieftain you're now hunting took Saint-14's weapon, and this quest run will ensure you get it back. Checking the Tangled Shore map via the Director will now show a new version of The Hallowed Lair strike, called The Hallowed Lair, Memento ... that's your next target.

The strike is generally the same, except for the final boss. You are looking for an Elite Scorn Chieftain named Defiled Reysk, The Waning Light. Dispatch this boss, and return to Saint-14 to claim your Bastion exotic fusion rifle.
