D2: Lumina exotic hand cannon quest

Datto video: 7m 16s
To begin the Lumina hand cannon quest, you will need to return to the same location where you started your Thorn quest. Enter the Salt Mine in the EDZ and proceed to the teleport pad. After materializing, run up the cliff side, past the Fallen blue-coloured shield wall, hop up and into a secluded area to find a loot chest.

The chest will provide you with A Fateful Gift quest step, and a System Positioning Device. The SPD points to your next target ... another chest. Your ghost notes that this device changes its signal on the hour, every hour, so you'll need to be quick. Datto notes in the video that there was no less than six separate locations identified for the second chest, and suggests that a good method to find the current location is to simply 'Google' it, or look it up on 'Reddit.'

After finding the next chest, you will acquire [another] Thorn hand cannon. Now you will have to generate 250 orbs of light. This can be done in a team or with your clan. Generating 250 orbs will 'burn' off Thorn's 'sickness' to reveal the original weapon; the Rose exotic hand cannon. Now you're required to restore three (3) of Rose's perks in preparation for its future transformation. They are:

Band Together — Complete a Nightfall strike with a score of 50,000 or higher. A x2 multiplier works well.
Face the Hordes — Complete 35 encounters at the Blind Well, at any of the Black Armory forges, or in Escalation Protocol.
Defend the Light — Defeat multiple enemy combatants (100 streaks) in a row without reloading your weapon.

The next step involves (preferably with clan mates on the same quest), completing activities throughout the solar system with the Rose equipped. For example, a strike is worth 12% (same for NF) with all three team members using the Rose (vs. only 3% solo). With all six team members using Rose in the Menagerie, the worth jumps to 35%.

The next step involves some PvP and more team work. Defeat Guardians in the Crucible with hand cannons (4% for each precision kill), and generate 50 orbs of light for fellow Guardians (you can create orbs in PvE also). As well, defeat Invaders in Gambit before they have killed any of your team mates. Essentially, YOU need to earn the Not On My Watch medal ... not one of your team mates ... YOU.

The final step is to run the Will of the Thousands strike with Rose equipped. In this strike, YOU need to destroy your own crystals. Yes, I know ... it's a rinse and repeat for your team mate's sessions (sigh). Killing Xol with Rose equipped will net you the new Lumina exotic hand cannon.

Reviewer Datto has some additional commentary relevant to the Lumina itself, for those players interested in functional, or otherwise esoteric, details.
